“I’ve always liked going to the gym, spin classes or circuit training to keep fit, and did a bit of running in between! I entered races but never had a plan, never trained properly and ended up injured half the time!

Then I met my future wife (and future head coach!) Amy who introduced me to this fantastic running club.

I started training smarter, joining in on club runs as often as I could, and found that by running with people much faster and fitter than me (including Amy…), I started getting quicker myself. I got over 3 minutes quicker over 5k, and improved my marathon time by nearly 2 hours!

I’ve met new friends (and more!!) and learned to love off road running too, having completed several ultra marathons. All of which I can thank South Cheshire Harriers and its fantastic members for!”

I run to keep fit (both body and mind) and lose weight. At first I was always a solo runner, sticking to the same boring 5km route from my house and very occasionally entering a 10k race.

Being apprehensive at first, my wife convinced me to join a running club, which turned out to be one of the best decisions ever. In the 4 years which I have been a member of the South Cheshire Harriers, I have vastly improved my fitness and long distance running, and have realised my long term goal of running marathons.

I have also benefitted from the motivation of group runs and coached training sessions, feel part of a team on race day, and got to know lots of like-minded people along the way. Renewing each year is a no-brainer as annual membership is cheaper than a single month at the gym. Now I always have friends to run with and make those miles go by quicker!.”

New Members

If you decide to join, you do not need to commit to coming to the club every week. Some members work shifts and therefore are not able to come regularly, some live a distance away and visit only occasionally. There is no weekly register taken!

During the winter, running is limited to the pavements around Willaston, Wistaston, Nantwich and Shavington. In the summer routes, are more varied and take in fields and footpaths. There is also an off-road group on Tuesday evenings in the summer months, meeting at a variety of locations across Cheshire, Staffordshire Moorlands and Wales.

Whatever your level of fitness or ability, there will always be a group you will enjoy running with and like-minded people who will support and encourage you. All are welcome to attend, but if you’re new to running or you’d like to speak to someone prior to coming to the club please contact us.

You can turn up for up to 2 sessions without committing to joining but after that you would not be insured for any further visits.
