England Athletics Regional Volunteer Awards 2022

We are delighted to have been shortlisted for ‘Club of the Year’ in the Northwest for the 2022 Regional Volunteer Awards.

The awards take place on Thursday 24th November, and are organised in partnership with Regional Councils. They provide a great way to thank everyone who volunteers their time to make the ‘running’ of clubs such as ours happen.

The ‘Club of the Year’ award is focused on clubs that have strived to improve by working to improve club standards, member experience, and are inclusive in their approach.

We can all agree it’s been a difficult few years for everyone, and our lovely club has continued to thrive despite the hardships, due to the hard work and dedication of our amazing members, run leaders and committee members.

Many initiatives have been implemented over the last couple of years to improve member experience and engagement, and bring our community together.

We’ve tried hard to listen to members and implement feedback, trained up new run leaders and coaches, improved member email and social media communications, held virtual challenges to motivate members, planned organised runs when Covid restrictions were lifted, launched a new website and team values, introduced monthly parkrun tours and social events to bring members together, held charity fundraisers, plus much more!

Regardless of the outcome, everyone has pulled together during some trying times, and the result is a welcoming, inclusive club with a real community feel, which is something to be proud of.

A huge thank you to all #TeamSCH members and volunteers, we really appreciate you, and we wouldn’t be here without you.

A few members of the committee will be attending the awards event, so wish us luck and we will post some pics and an update following the event.
