Runner profile: Karen

I first found my love of running as a teenager. I joined Stoke AC competing for the club in the 1500 m and in Cross Country then going on to represent the county in the All England Girls’ Cross Country Championships. That all stopped when I became sixteen…I lost my mojo!

Following retirement from work, I had a longing to return to running, so in 2018 I joined SCH. However, following ligament niggles (not caused from running), I stopped for a while, then rejoined again eighteen months ago.

I don’t compete anymore (perhaps I may do one day) but, I love the friendliness, social aspect of the club and the encouragement from the dedicated coaches, run  leaders and members!

At sixty two years of age, I don’t particularly have any running goals to compete again, just so grateful to be able to run and enjoy it and to feel so welcomed.
