I'm Maxine and I'm in my 2nd year with the club.

I moved from Chester to Crewe in September 2020 with my husband Dave and decided it was time to take up running again and also try Yoga and Pilates, which I have never done.

We've always been quite active horseriding, running, walking, mountain biking but then we got our dog Stanley and spent more time walking.

I've never done any competitive running except for the Chester Half Marathon in 2007. To be honest, I'd never even done a park run until I moved here.

I started with the C25K app and then my neighbour (Andy Hughes) took me under his wing and got me running further. Andy introduced me to Crewe Park Run and I run there regularly now and also Dave and I volunteer when we can. At my first parkrun, I met some of the South Cheshire Harriers team who were very welcoming. I soon joined up and haven't looked back since.

I love being part of the SCH family and Dave also comes along to the races to support and cheer us all on. It's a fantastic, friendly and inclusive community and I'm proud to wear the SCH top.

I'm also a member of the North Staffs Road Runners Association (hills, hills and more hills). There have been some fabulous races in some very scenic places.

My biggest achievements so far are winning two awards - 2nd in my age group for NSRRA and 2nd in Division1 for SCH. I was so chuffed as I've never won an award for anything in my life.

Going forward I hope to keep improving my running to the best of my ability and my next big goal is the South Cheshire 20 in September.....eeek!!

SCH now has a huge place in my life and even if I can't run I will be there cheering you all on.
