The club championship is split into road and off-road competitions.

Both lists of qualifying races are published at the beginning of each year and can be found below or on the following links Road Race Calendar 2023, Off-Road Race Calendar 2023.

Both competitions are open to all members and awards are given at an annual awards ceremony (usually January), following the completion of all races in the given year.

Off-Road  

• The off-road competition is split into one male and one female competition and is measured on a points scoring basis.

• Your finishing position in the race relative to other Harriers will determine the points score. Ie 1st placed Harrier is awarded 25 points, 2nd placed Harrier 24 points and so on.

• County & National - Cross country races attract a bonus point so 26 points for 1st placed Harrier, 25 points for 2nd placed Harrier etc. 

• Runners need to complete at least 5 races to qualify for the competition and the best 5 results are then used to calculate your finishing place in the competition.

Road Competition 

• The Road competition is split into ability divisions based on your achievements in the past year, or completion of two races for new members. There are currently 5 divisions in total for males and 4 divisions for females.

• Each division has a specific number of races to qualify for awards, and in the case of the premier division also a compulsory race distance requirement too.

• If you exceed the minimum qualifying races, then your best results will be used. I.e. if your division has a minimum race requirement of 8 races, but you complete 12. Your best 8 results will be used to calculate your league position.

• The road competition is measured on individual performance in each race using an age grade calculator – The WMA Road age-grading calculator 2015. Your race time is taken against the world record time for your age, gender and the given distance and converted into a percentage. I.e. Male, Aged 40, Road Race 5k, Time achieved 21:00 = 65.32% against the world record of 13:43.

• Promotion and relegation between leagues takes place at the end of the racing year based on the achieved age grade and the parameters of the divisions.
