A is for… Alderford Lake parkrun!

Yesterday we completed our 6th parkrun tourism event of 2022 at Alderford Lake parkrun in Whitchurch.

For those who may not know, on the last Saturday of the month, we attend a different local parkrun as a club. So far this year, we have been to Congleton, Hanley, The Wammy and Delamere Forest parkrun, as well as our local parkrun at Crewe.

Our parkrun tour has proved hugely popular so far, and has not only helped to bring club members together, but also provided members with a bit of parkrun variety and some (healthy!) competition.

Alderford lake is a beautiful, off-road parkrun with two laps incorporating some fields, the pretty lake itself and an ‘undulating’ forest section.

We were fortunate that the weather was good, as the course was in a perfect condition for running. I imagine in wet weather it would be quite a challenging course and trail shoes would be required!

There was a fantastic turnout from members, including our team mascot Acorn (the dog!)

Our head coach Amy completed the event whilst carrying her beautiful newborn Saoirse - so incredible, and it highlights exactly what parkrun is all about. :)

Afterwards, some of us enjoyed a chat and a brew with some delicious homemade cakes, kindly baked by one of our members (thanks Rich!)

Well done everyone - thank you for attending and making it a fun morning. There was some great running from everyone, with a few members getting Alderford Lake course PBs (David Kivlin, Georgia Durrant, Kathryn Platt, Gerard O’Sullivan, Lyndsey Cotton).

Also, a big well done to Lucas Darlington for finishing as the first Harrier, and coming in the top 5! You can find the full results listed on the Alderford Lake parkrun results page.

Next month, we will be heading to Northwich parkrun, and we hope see you there for more fun, friendships and cake (oh and some running too!)

Thanks as always to all of the wonderful volunteers that make parkrun happen each week.

Be sure to follow us on Instagram and like our Facebook page to keep up with our events.
