Port Vale fans raise £1,000 for John Rudge statue by running Crewe 10k

Port Vale fans running South Cheshire Harriers’ Crewe 10k on Easter Sunday, have raised £1,000 for a statue to celebrate their former manager.

In their second race, the Valiants decided to use this as a way of raising funds to support the creation of the John Rudge statue, being organised by the Port Vale Supporters’ Club. Rudge managed the club during 1983 to 1999 - Vale's most successful years in the club’s history - and has since returned as Club President.

Contributors and listeners to the popular Port Vale ‘Ale and Vale Podcast’ have previously run the Werrington 10k as a way of supporting podcast sponsor AV Timing - local timing and registration service - who will be working with the South Cheshire Harriers to put on this race.

South Cheshire Harriers have now sold out the race and are set to welcome 350 runners for the annual Easter 10k, supported by Avanti West Coast.

The two lap race will begin at 9:30am with support for the runners encouraged to cheer from start line at Electra Way, and parking available at the race headquarters at Appollo Buckingham Health Sciences at Crewe Green Road.

Good luck everyone!
